A launch for Lostlingual, a translingual poetry collection by Dinara Rasuleva.
In Lostlingual, the Berlin-based poet Dinara Rasuleva returns to Tatar, the language of her childhood. She had used it only rarely as an adult, and never before as a creative writer—the national language of her people, smothered by Russian colonialism. She sets herself the goal of composing poetry in Tatar as she remembers it, without consulting dictionaries and grammars. The result is a collection of fragile and liberatory translingual poems, in which Tatar, English, German, and Russian call out, respond to, and transform one another. Rasuleva’s language-mixing opens a new frontier in the poetics of decolonialization.
Lostlingual is the first volume of sdvig, a translingual writing series at Rab-Rab Press, edited by Eugene Ostashevsky. Dinara and Eugene will be in conversation with Raphael Koranda, poetry editor at SAND Journal.

Dinara Rasuleva is a Tatar writer and poet_ess based in Berlin. She is the author of the poetry collection “Su” and the novel “Traumagotchi.”
Raphael Koranda writes, edits and translates in and between English and
German. Raphael's texts and self-translations have appeared in various anthologies and magazines, and have most recently been exhibited at Galerie im Turm and Literarisches Colloquium Berlin.
Eugene Ostashevsky is a poet and translator based in NYC and Berlin. He is the author, most recently, of The Feeling Sonnets (Carcanet + NYRB Poets, 2022).
