Paris, janvier 1920. L'ancien combattant Eugène Varlot, reconverti en détective privé, est contacté pour une mission par l'ancien " héros " du 296e régiment d'Infanterie, le colonel Fantin de Larsaudière. L'enquête, présentée à l'origine comme un banal constat d'adultère, va finalement mener aux mutineries de 1917 et au trafic de stocks américains d'après-guerre, se révélant de ce fait pleine de dangers... En adaptant fidèlement cette oeuvre de Didier Daeninckx, maître du roman noir, Tardi se délecte. D'une part idéologiquement, en revenant sur la dénonciation de la guerre ; d'autre part graphiquement, en dessinant magnifiquement Paris et ses banlieues au début du XXe siècle. L'étude de cette adaptation permet d'appréhender la richesse et la particularité de la bande dessinée, notamment au travers des notions d'ellipse, de suspense, de registre de tangue, de pastiche et de parodie. Elle permet aussi de découvrir certains aspects peu connus de la Première Guerre mondiale, comme la mutinerie des troupes russes en France. L'appareil pédagogique complet est suivi d'une interview exclusive de Didier Daeninckx et d'un lexique BD.

Refunds & Returns
